Usage

You can use this template to cite British Army Council Instructions or War Office Instructions. (They were known as War Office Instructions up to December 1915 but later sources often refer to instructions from this period as Army Council Instructions.)

Parameter names can be omitted if the values are entered in this order. All parameters are required.

  • number – the number of the Instruction referenced. The sequence of numbers restarted every month so you will also need to specify the month and year below.
  • date – the date on which the Instruction was issued. This can be in any format but should include day, month and year.
