Historian and palaeographer. I run Different Hand Ltd, doing manuscript transcription, XML markup, research assistance and related services. My PhD thesis and published work are on horses and cavalry in the English Civil War. I got into First World War research through tracing my great-grandad, who was in 1/5th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. I was a moderator at Your Archives and used to blog at Investigations of a Dog.
To do list
- simplify and document category hierarchies (mostly done)
- more definition pages for types and specific types
- make sure no ref tags in parent or subordinate fields of {{infobox command structure}}
- correct machine gun companies for some British brigades
- British infantry regiment pages:
- check for missing or duplicate battalions
- move medal rolls to h4 under other official sources
- set default sort
- British and Indian division pages:
- WO 95 sub-series for non-WF theatres
- WO 157 if any
- change "Divisional Train" to "Divisional Supply and Transport"
- get rid of 'Infantry divisions' category
- add more tasks to How you can help:
