A corps, also known as an army corps, was the tactical level above a division and below an army. It usually included two or more [[infantry division]]s or [[mounted division]]s along with a group of [[corps troops]] directly attached to corps headquarters.

== British Empire ==

Tactical corps were used on the Western Front, at Gallipoli, and in the Middle East. Most had a similar structure but the number of divisions to a corps varied. More details are given under the country headings below. No other countries of the British Empire raised a whole corps. Most corps headquarters were formed by the British Army but they could include units and formations from many different countries.

[[Desert Mounted Corps]] was a mixture of British, Australian and New Zealand mounted divisions.
