He served with the 18th Battalion, 21st Reinforcement in France where he was wounded 8 Aug. 1918. He was treated in various hospitals in England before returning to Sydney on the HMT Takada, Feb.-Mar. 1919. He was in Randwick Military Hospital until the end of 1919, and lived until 1969'
