"Tropical Force, Australian" redirects here. Tropical Force, originally consisting of 3rd Battalion, was administratively part of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force. Tropical Force was originally intended to be an independent tactical command operating north of the equator, but this operation was cancelled before it started, and Tropical Force was put under command of Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force at Rabaul.
