Usage

Please use this template to cite the American order of battle, officially titled Order of Battle of the United States Land Forces in the World War. It automatically creates a link to the digitized versions at the US Army Center of Military History.

Parameter names can be omitted if the values are entered in this order.

• volume: the number of the volume being cited. Required because there are several volumes. The volume numbers are given below in bold, and must be entered in exactly this form. A description of each volume is given in brackets after the bold text. Don't enter this - it's only there for information.
  • 1 (American Expeditionary Forces: General headquarters, armies, corps, supply services and separate forces.)
  • 2 (American Expeditionary Forces: divisions.)
  • 3.1 (Zone of the Interior: the War Department.)
  • 3.2 (Zone of the Interior: territorial departments, divisions, posts, camps and stations.)
  • 3.3 (Zone of the Interior: directory of troops.)
